Patagonia Brand Strategy Case Study

This project explores how Patagonia builds a purpose-driven brand through storytelling and strategy. It includes a breakdown of the core insight, my analysis of their approach, and key takeaways on what makes their marketing effective: creating a new mission that aligns with the company and its past work. I worked as the account planner with my groupmates, Bella Noel-Harman, Clara Harding, Kathleen Kelly, Emma Kate Bradley, and Margaret Long.

PATAGONIA: LOVED FOR LONGER

Spring 2026

Reimagining how Patagonia could strengthen emotional connections through product longevity and purpose-driven storytelling.

My Role: Team member | Brand strategy, consumer insights, and campaign development

Project Overview

Patagonia has never marketed itself like a traditional apparel brand. Instead of encouraging consumers to buy more, the company has built its identity around environmental responsibility and long-term product use. For this project, my team and I developed a brand playbook that expanded upon Patagonia's existing mission and the iconic "Don't Buy This Jacket" campaign. We created a campaign concept called Loved for Longer, designed to encourage consumers to extend the life of their products while deepening their emotional connection to Patagonia's sustainability mission.
